Brad Hill - Director of Player Development

Career Highlights:

15 years NCAA DI Head Coach - Kansas State University
9 years NCAA DII Head Coach - Central Missouri State
4 years NCAA DI Assistant Coach - Kansas University
3 years NJCAA Head Coach - Hutchinson Community College

Career Bio:

Brad joins Sandlot from Big 12 Conference Kansas State University after leading the Wildcat program for 15 years.  He is a 32 year college coaching veteran and has experience at the Junior College, NCAA Division I and II levels.  Brad also played at the NAIA level and professionally in the Texas Rangers Organization for 4 years.

His coaching career began at Hutchinson Community College before moving on to the University of Kansas as the recruiting coordinator and hitting coach for his former college mentor Dave Bingham.  The Jayhawks earned their first ever Regional berth in 1993 and ended up in Omaha for a historical CWS appearance.  In the summer of 1994, Brad accepted the Head Coaching position at NCAA DII program Central Missouri State (now University of Central Missouri) following current Arkansas Head Coach Dave Van Horn, who had just guided the Mules to the Division II National Championship.  The next 9 years saw UCM make 7 NCAA Division II Championship appearances, 4 straight 50 win seasons (2000-03) and another National Championship in 2003.

The Kansas State Wildcats hired Brad after the Mules Championship in June 2003.  He helped build the Wildcat program to a national contender in his 6th year as K-State reached its first NCAA Regional in school history.  Kansas State continued its success with 3 more Regional appearances in 4 years, with its first ever Big 12 Championship along the way in 2013.  Brad holds the career wins record at both University of Central Missouri and Kansas State and has been inducted into the Emporia State Hall of Fame as a player, UCM and MIAA Hall of Fame as a coach, and the Kansas Babe Ruth Hall of Fame as player/coach.

Brad is excited to continue his career in baseball thru private instruction with young kids, an Associate Scout with the Detroit Tigers, and the opportunity to assist high school baseball players/parents with the exciting challenges of finding the right fit for their college decision academically and athletically.  As a small town kid from Galva, Kansas and graduating with a class of 27, Brad was not heavily recruited by any colleges. He understands with his college recruiting background, that there are numerous young players that still are unknown to coaches at the college level and need assistance in opening up these opportunities.  As a former college coach and current scout, he also knows how to assess athletic ability to assist families with choosing the right playing level to experience success.  The ultimate goal is securing the life insurance policy of a college education, while getting to play the game you love at the college that fits you best academically and athletically.
